DRAWING MACHINE
In high school, Dajia attended an one-year intensive art training program. She struggled with achieving a high score on this standardizing exams that was designed for art students who wanted to get into the top art colleges in China. Comparison, jealousy, anxiety, hopelessness and numbness were born out of the toxic competitive experiences. Gradually, Dajia went from initial enthusiasm for drawing to self-doubt about her passion.
HEY MOM (嘿,老妈)
Drawn in 2023 in Boston. This comic explores Dajia’s feelings of loneliness and homesickness as she says goodbye to friends and experiences the emotional weight of a video chat with her mom on Independence Day.
DEAD END (Zodiac: The Failure To Catch A Killer)
In the late 1960s, an unidentified serial killer known as Zodiac murdered five known victims in the San Francisco Bay Area.The case has been described as "arguably the most famous unsolved murder case in American history" and has become a symbol in popular culture. This 32-page Non-fiction comic is based on real events and revolves around Detective Dave Toschi, who was responsible for the case.
