Here's my people-watching art collection—mostly hand-drawn, with a few done on my iPad. I've added a touch of personal imagination to some of the pieces. Enjoy!

For anyone interested in doing people-watching sketches but haven't tried yet, it not only requires quick drawing skills to capture moments but also some other quirky talents. Here are some tips to get started:

  • It's best to sketch people from a distance—getting too close can feel awkward!

  • Avoid staring at them for more than 3 seconds while you draw; keep it natural. (Here's a strange thing I've noticed recently: even when you're sketching someone absorbed in their phone from afar, if you stare too long, they might sense your gaze.)

  • Personally, I find bustling parks, where people picnic, walk their dogs, and snap photos, to be the best spots for people-watching. Coffee shops come next, where folks are usually working or chatting. (Plus, while you're sketching, you might overhear some juicy gossip from those around you—maybe it'll even inspire your artwork.?)

  • Grab your pen and paper—let's go!
